Chinese Shoe

Beautiful Chinese Lotus shoe. These were historically worn by Chinese women who had bound feet. (Foot binding is no longer practiced). The sole has been intricately sewn with a pattern that features flowers. The sides feature a floral embroidered design, with the heel having been overlaid with a blue fabric with a lilac coloured decorative trim. There is colour-fade to one side, mark and wear. The lining is plain and shows age.

The shoe sole measures approximately 5 inches long.
